https://youtu.be/qM9j6AqnCfc "Wind Energy in the Built Environment" a discussion with Matthew Herman, Director Buro Happold and Farid Pour, Senior Sustainable Design Specialist- HOKThe Chicago Computation Group meeting was held at HOK’s Chicago's office where a discussion and workshop on wind energy in the built environment took place. Two case studies were reviewed discussing the computational tools used to inform the design of wind power production in Buildings.A recent installation of a 600 kW wind turbine in the Pullman neighborhood of Chicago will be used to introduce wind energy concepts and principals. Basic inputs and outputs related to wind energy production calculations were introduced as a precursor to more advanced computational tool presented in the second case study. The second case study reviewed a research project on creation of a computational tool for evaluating high-rise building integrated wind turbines in the early stages of design. This project is a part of an on-going research being conducted at IIT as part of the architectural PhD program.Below are some images from the event and a link to the presentationclick here for the presentationopen08open08 2BIWT
